Preface

The devotional literature of Odisha has always reflected the profound spiritual journey of surrender (Prapatti). With deep joy and reverence, we now present Sri Prapatti Rachana Sangraha – Volume II, the continuation of a work first begun in 1986 with the publication of Volume I.

The earlier volume gathered together important writings on Prapatti, illuminating the Odia tradition of complete surrender at the feet of the Divine. That collection received heartfelt appreciation from readers, scholars, and devotees alike. Encouraged by such reception and guided by the conviction that these treasures must not be lost to time, we felt it necessary to bring forth this second part.

In this anthology, readers will find a wide range of compositions—verses, hymns, and reflections—drawn from saints, poets, and spiritual writers who shaped the devotional consciousness of Odisha. Their voices remind us that Prapatti is not merely a religious concept but a lived path of humility, faith, and reliance on divine grace.

This collection stands as a bridge between the past and the present: preserving the words of devotion that once resounded in temples and homes, and making them accessible for today’s seekers and students of literature. Through these pages, the timeless message of surrender is renewed, teaching us that in yielding to the Divine lies the highest strength and the deepest peace.

With the publication of Sri Prapatti Rachana Sangraha (Volume II), the effort to safeguard and share Odisha’s devotional heritage takes one step further towards completion. We offer this volume with the hope that it may inspire reflection, faith, and spiritual practice among all who read it.
